Expanding Toddler Vocabulary

Here are some tips to boost your toddlers vocabulary:

  1. Read together.

  2. Talk with versus at your child.

  3. Sing songs.

  4. Encourage them to use their “words” in lieu of frequent pointing/gesturing.

  5. Model language for them.

  6. Expand on their language, i.e., “ball” to “yes, that’s a small red ball.”

  7. Explore new items and environments together.
